The Author with the late S/Sgt Richard "Red" Falvey, HQ Company, 2nd Battalion, 506th Parachute Infantry Regiment, 101st Airborne Division (Screaming Eagles) at World War II Weekend, Gettysburg. Red was a combat veteran paratrooper of World War II. He was a frequently sought-after speaker at re-enactment and memorial events. Rest in peace my brother. 18 Sep 2010

The World War II Foundation sponsored a fundraiser in Boston to raise funds for the Richard D. Winters Leadership Project, which erected a statue in Ste.Marie du Mont on 6 Jun 2012. The World War II Foundation sponsored an evening with Bill and Babe in Philadelphia. The event raised funds for the Richard D. Winters Leadership Project, which erected a statue in Ste.Marie du Mont on 6 Jun 2012. While the statue bore the likeness of Major Winters, he insisted the statue be dedicated to all combat leaders who served in Normandy.
