The Freedom Alliance Foundation hosted their annual Defenders of Freedom Award Dinner. Nearly 400 people saw Navy Captain Perry "Pete" Van Hooser receive the Defender of Freedom Award for his lifetime of service to our country - first as a United States Marine and then as a Navy Seal. The Author with S/Sgt Richard "Red" Falvey, HQ Company, 2nd Battalion, 506th Parachute Infantry Regiment, 101st Airborne Division (Screaming Eagles) at World War II Weekend, Gettysburg. Red is a combat veteran of World War II. At nearly 90 years of age, the popular paratrooper is a frequently sought-after speaker at World War II re-enactment and memorial events. 18 Sep 2010

The World War II Foundation sponsored an evening with Bill and Babe in Philadelphia. The event raised funds for the Richard D. Winters Leadership Project, which plans to erect a statue in Ste.Marie du Mont on 6 Jun 2012. While the statue will bear the likeness of Major Winters, he insisted the statue be dedicated to all combat leaders who served in Normandy.
